Thank you. Thank you. Thank you for SORR at Maker Faire.

I don’t think I have the words to express how thankful I am for my experience at the Swap-O-Rama-Rama at Maker Faire this weekend, but I’m going to try. I was inspired by the creativity of my fellow SORR workshop teachers including Sonya of 100 Acts of Sewing teaching people how to sew a dress, Zipporah RossĀ helping people paint their clothing, Mandy McKenna teaching crochet from recycled t-shirts, and Andrea Nemerson helping people make bags from t-shirts and add funky recycled appliques. I was inspired by the passion of other SORR staff and volunteers, working tirelessly to create something truly amazing, including founder Wendy Tremayne, organizer Erin Scholl, TrasHion show coordinater Eva Heule, volunteer Eryn Presley (even if having so many Erins around made it a little confusing!), and so many more. Swap-O-Rama-Rama at Maker Faire Bay Area 2013

I’m super excited to announce that I’ll be teaching a workshop all next weekend (May 18th and 19th) as part of the Swap-O-Rama-Rama at Maker Faire Bay Area. What is the Swap-O-Rama-Rama, you ask? “The Swap-O-Rama-Rama is the world’s largest clothing swap! Join in the communal process of reuse and celebrate our collective creativity. Swap-O-Rama-Rama is a giant clothing swap and series of do-it-yourself workshops in which a community explores reuse and creativity through the recycling of used clothing. At SORR, consumers are taught to be creators.” I’ll be running demos of how to take old pairs of pants and turn them into skirts. I’ll also be selling the last of the pants-from-skirts inventory I used to have in my old Etsy store in the SORR boutique.
