Sunday Stash

Today’s theme is “Gifts”. First off, a gift for me! My birthday was earlier this month and my awesome fabric-enabler mom bought me a box of Cotton & Steel fat quarters. Yippee! I’m a dabbler-in-quilts, but my mom is a pretty amazing quilter and is doing everything she can to get me more into quilting. I’m certainly going to have to make some more quilts since I have 40 (!!!) C&S fat quarters to use now!

I’m not sure what I will do with most of the fat quarters, but I would like to make a tree skirt for our Christmas tree and there are a chunk of Christmas-y fabrics that would play nicely together. We’ll see if that happens in time for this year…

The other gift-y fabric is several yards of Robert Kaufman mammoth flannel that I bought from The Confident Stitch when they were just having a sale. Adam has said that he would like a flannel shirt now that we are Pacific Northwesters. I tried to surprise him with a flannel shirt two winters ago, right after we moved here. Turns out he wasn’t super fond of the flannel I chose and hated the cut of the shirt so that surprise went into the scrap bin and eventually became a shirt for Evie. So this time I had him pick out the flannel and I’m going to have him try it on every step of the way. No surprises, but hopefully a shirt that he will like to wear! And, because I adore RK mammoth flannel, I bought enough that I could make a shirt for myself too. Maybe they’ll be scraps left enough for Evie and we can be totally cheeseballs and all have the same shirts :)
