Denim Baby Shoes

I’ve been thinking for a while of sewing baby shoes for friends that are expecting for when I don’t have enough time/stash to do a large sewing project or knit project.

I sewed the shoes with scraps from my recent derp skirt, cowgirl blouse, and jeans.

I had thought that I would make my own pattern, but found this Simplicity 2278 on sale so I bought it instead. Instructions were simple and clear. I used sew-in interfacing instead of fusible and didn’t use the recommended sole.

Instead of the sole fabric the pattern recommends, I used puff-paint to paint tacky stripes across the bottom of the shoe. Since I made the smallest size, it will be used before the baby walks, so it should be fine not to have the tacky bottom.
