The Citrus Leggings were a looooong time in the making (more on that in their introductory post) so I had a LOT of pattern testers. This is just a sampling of the many awesome folks who helped me along the way. I’m appreciative of the help I received from every single tester and I hope you’ll enjoy seeing a sampling of the fun leggings and reading some thoughts about the pattern. If you look closely you’ll see a mix of View A (gathers along the side), View B (gathers along the front/back), and View C (plain side). A number of testers got creative with color blocking. Make sure you look for the leggings made with a striped fabric to see the very cool effect you get on the side of the leg! “These are my best leggings ever! They have a perfect fit, they are confortable and the instructions were very easy to follow! Great for everyday or for workout.” Find Ana on Instagram.
“Loved it, the leggings are super comfortable and feel great to wear and flattering. I chose view B as I had recently been intrigued by some Stella McCartney trousers which were gathered on the out side of the leg and smooth on the inside. I love that the gathered detail jazzes up even plain black leggings which can be a bit of a uniform for me in the transition seasons as they cosy up a tunic or summer dress and allow for flexibility on a changeable day.” Find Anna on Instagram.
“Love the details of these leggings. It is a step higher to any pattern currently in the market.” Find Carla on Instagram.
“These are not typical leggings. Because of the structure of the pattern, these leggings have personality and make me feel more dressed up than I usually feel when I wear leggings. Got tons of compliments on them the first day I wore them!” – Carol. Carol is one of our cover models!
“This pattern might just be enough to make me a leggings convert. It’s quick and easy to put together, and terribly comfortable to wear. Plus, if I ever get wild and crazy enough, the unique pattern pieces and seams make for some fun color-blocking possibilities!” – Carolyn.
“I really like how these leggings / tights are constructed – they are super comfortable to wear and don’t ride up or sag down during the day! It’s a well written pattern that helps you get the right fit.” Find Chloe on her blog or Instagram.
“As always, Erin takes into account all types of body shapes. The Citrus leggings are a fun, easy sew.” Find Deborah on Instagram. Deborah is one of our cover models!
“I absolutely love this pattern, and I’ll be making tons of them. Citrus is perfect for workout pants, under dresses and tunics, and even as pants if you use a heavy knit!” – Jamie
“I don’t usually wear leggings, not even for workout. But these may change the game, because I really like how sporty they look. They will also make an awesome fit to a hoodie dress that’s on my sewing list. I think this pattern is great for fun prints on the side panels, like the arrows facing up and down that I did on purpose.” Find Janina on her blog or Instagram.
“Love the way the panels wrap around my calves. Ruffles add a touch of interest without being too feminine.” Find Joann on Instagram.
“These leggings are AWESOME! Comfy and I feel so cool in them. Stripes work!” Find Julee on her blog or Instagram.
“I think these leggings are a great staple. I love the plain view which is the perfect base to get creative with and I love the gathered view too, which has the perfect amount of sass. They also came together super quick!” Find Kten on her blog and on Instagram.
“I really like that the citrus leggings are not just a pair of plain leggings. They have a more worked feeling to them but do not take much longer to make than the regular ones. As a not-used-to-wear-leggings person, I can see myself wearing these as pants with a longer tunic/sweater. Or as training pants.” – Find Linnea on Instagram.
Finally a pattern I don’t have to alter!!! Erin has created something us tall woman can just cut and sew. Being 6’1″ this unheard of! These leggings are gorgeous, flattering and comfortable. These will definitely be a staple in my wardrobe! Thanks Erin!!!” Find Manikka on Instagram. Manikka is one of our cover models!
I have probably sewn up about 3 other legging patterns with no success. This is the 1st legging pattern that fits and looks amazing! As a plus-some diva with hips for days, this definitely gets a curvy stamp of approval!” Find Martha on Instagram. (Martha is also wearing her Tropo Camisole.)
“This pattern is so fun! It comes together relatively quickly and is a unique final product – I love the ruching effect from the elastic and am very proud of my first pair of leggings! I love that it comes with three options in one and that it is such a unique look. I also really like the way the top of the pants fit on my waist with the gentle curve from front to back – lovely.” Find Mary on Instagram.
“I normally only wear leggings for exercise and go for functional rather than fancy. This pattern has won me over though and I’m keen to make some more for everyday wear! They have the comfort of normal leggings but the gathering and panels leaves endless options for fun decoration.” Find Miffy on Instagram.
“I was hesitant about the seam locations of this pattern but to my surprise I feel that they are slimming.
I love having the flower/logo on each page to help with putting together the PDF. It was nice having one more tool to verify alignment. I love how these leggings accentuate my assets!” Find Salina on her blog or Instagram.
“I really like that these leggings offer a unique style element. I love the gathers on view B; it was like magic watching them come together!” Find Sarah on Instagram.
“I haven’t made leggings before, not something I usually wear, however… I really enjoyed making this pattern, it was fun using two different fabrics – black and brights – and the pattern lent itself to this approach. I’m very happy with the outcome and I’m looking forward to wearing them to yoga.” – Su
“The fit is perfect, fits like a glove. It is an unusual way to gather due to the way the pattern piece is cut but boom it’s magic.” Find Susi on her blog or Instagram.
“As a person who never made leggings before this was my first try and it was simple and easy to follow instructions and make these, plus it was quick. I like how these have a seam in the front of the leg and that to me looks so much better than casual leggings.” Find Tanja on her blog or Instagram. (Also wearing her Tropo Camisole.)
“I really like the versatility and design elements of this pattern. I can see them being made with a variety of different fabrics for everything from leggings-as-pants, to athletic leggings, to tights or leggings worn under a dress. The seaming on the back and front adds a nice design element. I really like the lines they create when worn, breaking up the usual plain front of most pants, and this seam placement creates a great opportunity for color blocking or using different fabrics. The gathering at the sides of the legs is a design element I haven’t seen before, and I like that it adds a small bit of interest at the bottom of the legs. I can easily see this becoming a tried-and-true pattern for me because it was quick to put together, and I can use this one pattern to make many different kinds of leggings.” Find Wendy on Instagram.
