Bow Neck Blouse Sewalong Roundup

Thanks for reading (and sewing!) along with me over the last month as I daily professed my love for Bow Neck Blouses. Here I’ve rounded up the bow neck blouses and dresses made as part of the sewalong! Click on any of the photos to be taken to their full post. For those of you that weren’t able to sew along this time, the Flickr group will stay up, so feel free to add to it in the future. And stay tuned, because I had such a blast with this I’ll probably do another one in the future!

birdie cotton bow neck blouse

I kicked off the sew along with my little birdie bow neck blouse in a cotton print using the blouse pattern from Gertie’s New Book for Better Sewing.

Ilse stitched this gorgeous and understated bow neck blouse from Collete Patterns Violet.

Marianne mashed up Colette Jasmine and Sorbetto patterns to make her own Jazbetto blouse, perfect for layering.

Kelly B. sewed a 1940’s reproduction Simplicity 1587. Doesn’t she look divine? The gorgeous print does hide some of the details, but there’s a sweet bow center front on this pretty dress.

Three of us made Simplicity 2154! It’s a great reproduction of a fun 60’s pattern. Shanni kicked off the trio with this gorgeous floral print. (Is it the same print that Kelly used!??!)

I followed up with a pink silk version.

And Yaniris finished off the trio with a subtle metallic floral print.

Freya made a similar blouse from a vintage 60’s pattern, Simplicity 4676. Love the polka dots and the giant floppy bow!

Siri stitched a lovely blouse from vintage simplicity 8738 from 1978 which she makes look so mid-century with her gorgeous styling.

orange bow neck blouse refashion

I refashioned and dip dyed a vintage blouse for a bit of fun ombre coloring.

Helena sewed a gorgeous knit blouse with lace sleeves and coordinating lace bow from Jalie 2921. I’m seriously crushing on this shirt!

I also sewed a knit bow neck dress, using Lolita Pattern’s new Gunmetal.

Ette made an eye-catching modern Burda blouse with a unique long and thin bow in a great contrast fabric that really emphasizes the stripes in the blouse body.

Rosemary made a Tova blouse that she has deemed a toile, but it’s a great toile and the bow works well!

Megan also wasn’t thrilled with her finished blouse because of it’s fit, but the design is great I think it makes up for an imperfect fit. Love the white and black elements on the simple blouse from the Sassy Librarian Blouse class on Craftsy.

My failed blouse came from McCalls M6648, which was a total bust at first and salvaged into something wearable in the end.

Again, thanks to everyone for joining in with comments, enthusiasm, and finished blouses. It’s been great fun!

  1. Thanks for hosting this sewalong, there are some great blouses in this roundup! So sorry I was too busy to finish in time, but thanks for the kick! Well done to all the participants.

  2. Just realised that my latest make is both pink and bow necked, what are you doing tome Erin?! Not for me this time though…

    1. Post

Ha! So glad I could parasitize your projects! (Which may sound creepy until you remember I’m a scientist. Okay, even if you remember I’m a scientist that probably sounds creepy. But I mean it in the best possible way :)

  3. Oh I wish I had known about this – I freaking love bow-neck blouses and need a nudge to buy some appropriate fabrics for one. I particularly love your birdie and pink silk ones, which is lucky because I already have both of the patterns
