Bachelorette Hair Clips

My cousin is getting married this fall. I am so excited in so many ways. First, I’m thrilled that she’s getting married. Her fiance is a wonderful man and they make a wonderful couple. Second, I’m thrilled to be a part of the wedding and to be able to celebrate it with her and the rest of our family. Third, I’m stoked to go to Nashville for the first time for the bachelorette party! I thought I would make a fun little contribution to the bachelorette celebration. I’m not one for the typical bachelorette debauchment or accoutrement (i.e. not so thrilled to make phalluses a part of my party clothes). Instead, I’ve borrowed a wonderful idea from another friend’s bachelorette party. I made floral hair clips for each gal joining the celebration. Hexagon Quilt Top

I just finished the first quilt top that I’ve ever planned, cut, and pieced on my own! I love the hexagonal edges and the geometric feeling will work well in mostly mid-century modern home. When I went to the SewExpo this year, I found a quilt pattern that I loved. My mom has always been a fan of American Jane fabrics and quilts, so we went to check out their booth. I saw their Fizzy Pop quilt on display and decided I had to make it for myself. I am still learning. Some of my points are beautiful. Some of them, not so much. I ripped and sewed and ripped and sewed many of the points several times. Eventually, I decided that the quilt was a fairly good representation of where I am in my quilting abilities. Georgie Gets a Girlfriend

My favorite doll growing up was a sock monkey named Georgie. I’ve always had a soft spot for sock monkeys, and so when I found a pattern for knitting a girl sock monkey (Carmen Banana!) I just had to make it. I knit Carmen and two different outfits for her.
